The Stitchers were thrilled to discover that their WW1 wall hanging has been labelled “a masterpiece” by the magazine, ” The Creative (with workbox) “.
To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the publication, in which an article about the making of the hanging appeared in 2013, was a gallery of ” Textile Masterpieces we just had to share”, and one of the “masterpieces” was our wall hanging.
Under the picture was the following:-
” This wall hanging was the cover image on the Jan/Feb 2013 issue and is our editor’s favourite cover to date. Created by Celia Gleesdale and members of the local community, the hanging is based on a painting by Lydgate artist, Jill Harrison, to commemorate WW1″
The wall hanging is currently displayed in the Parish Hall.
